Joseph (Joey) Plaggenberg has been practicing law for over 12 years, and prior to establishing his private solo law practice worked at the Missouri Department of Revenue for almost eight years from 2014 to 2022. Joey proudly served as the acting director of the Department of Revenue from October 12, 2021 to December 31, 2021, and as an attorney he assisted the Department in contracting, motor vehicle and driver licensing laws, motor vehicle dealer licensing, tax issues, and other general matters.

Prior to joining the Department of Revenue, Joey served as legal counsel with the Department of Social Services from 2012 to 2014, where he held administrative hearings to establish, modify, and terminate child support orders; provided legal support in child permanency cases; and litigated abuse and neglect, and termination of parental rights cases across mid-Missouri. Prior to that, Joey was a research assistant and a deputy clerk at the Boone County Circuit Clerk’s Office.

 

Joey obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri in 2012 and holds Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Political Science. Joey was born and raised in Warrenton, Missouri and now lives in Jefferson City with his wife Rachel, and his daughter, Lorraine. In their free time, the Plaggenbergs enjoy amateur sailing at the Lake of the Ozarks and growing the hottest peppers in the world (ask about some hot sauce if you relish unrelenting pain).
